Spring Weekend in GIF form

The UA Events Committee is a unique part of the Undergraduate Association here at MIT, sharing a connection with the UA primarily, but also here with the Student Activities Office.  Booking top talent for an enjoyable SpringFest and Fall Festival is the goal of the EventsComm each year, and as we approach SpringFest 2013, we wanted to tell you the story of SpringFest in GIF form.

Please enjoy.

So, we got this guy named Macklemore and his cohort Ryan Lewis for SpringFest 2013…

… and the Events Committee was all like…

…because we hoped MIT students would be like…

And the time for ticket sales came.

…Events Comm waiting for the ticket site to open…

…and then sheer demand and traffic crashed the site…

…yeah, the site crashed…

… and the site came back later in the day, and students were unfortunately still having issues getting in (sorry ya’ll!)…

…but steadily and surely, ticket issues got figured out, and ya’ll were eating up SpringFest tickets…

…and together we are gonna have a great time with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis!…

This will be the scene when Macklemore and Ryan Lewis hit the stage, we think.

Cambridge Entertainment License Issues from this past weekend

Hello MIT student orgs!

As we all dig out from the snow storm this past weekend, and splish splash around in the puddles on campus, SAO just wanted to update you on some issues that may have resulted from MIT being closed all weekend last weekend.

via Mashable

If your organization had an event scheduled for Friday-Sunday, and you 1) had to cancel it due to the institution being closed, and 2) purchased a City of Cambridge Entertainment License for the event, we have some good news.

Once you figure out and reschedule a new date, time, and location for your cancelled event, please make sure you fill out a new event registration form again.  The good news is that you will not have to purchase a completely new Cambridge Entertainment License, they will simply transfer your license from this last weekend to your new date, at no charge.

Do make sure to bring a copy of your old event registration and license documentation, and your new event registration forms, and they will transfer it over no problem.

If you are still experiencing issues or trouble in rescheduling an event from this past weekend, please let us know, we want to help your organization out!

MIT Charm School Turns 20!

The MIT tradition that is Charm School turns 20 next week, with events that covers academic and non-academic subjects as well as topics serious and not so serious (although, one could argue that the Art of Tying a Bow tie is a serious matter).

Charm School was born in 1993 during IAP, and has grown into a thriving and strong MIT tradition each winter.  In 2008, Charm School expanded to include new, in-depth workshops that addressed issues key to leadership, personal development, and interpersonal skills.  It is a true community event, involving interested students, committed alumni, faculty who look forward to engaging students outside of the classroom, and staff committed to the development of MIT students and the MIT community.

This year, Charm School offers 3 unique workshops to complement the traditional Charm School program, so scroll down for info on each opportunity!
